1978 MGB V8
1978 MGB that has undergone a complete custom restoration. This project started with a very nice rust free AZ car. A 215 V8 was rebuilt using a rover 300 crank giving this all aluminum v8 260 cu in. An upgraded Iskenderian 262 cam was used for more power. Custom built jet hot coated headers exit through the inner fender. A carter 4 barrel 560cfm carburetor resides under the K&N air filter. Engine is backed by a fully rebuilt Tremec T5 overdrive 5 speed manual transmission with a Howe hydraulic ram. The rear end leaf spring mounts were boxed and traction bars were added to handle the extra power. The combination of the all aluminum v8 and 5 speed transmission is 60 lbs lighter than the original cast iron 4 cylinder and 4 speed transmission. All of the suspension and brakes were rebuilt or replaced with new parts. This car has a completely new wiring harness. Interior is genuine leather and very nice. Dashboard is custom made of wood and houses all new VDO gauges. Custom sound system is very impressive and has an amp and sub woofer for a very full sound. The body is very good, totally rust free, with excellent hood , door, and trunk gaps and alignment. Quality paint job fully sanded and buffed in "Monza Red." All of the chrome and stainless was refinished on this car. As you can see it was converted to steel bumpers for a more classic look. The windshield frame was polished as opposed to the brushed original look. There is a small blemish on the rear bumper under the license plate frame the size of a nickel that will not polish out, otherwise very nice. The tops of the door panels have some scratches and nicks but they are very minor. No bolt was left unturned on this very nice restoration, this car is quite fast and very fun to drive.
