1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2
1965 Mustang Fastback 2+2 for restoration. One owner car with docs, under 40,000 orig miles as told by the original owner. This car was parked in 1980 due to a minor front end collision that did not damage either fender or hood, but caught the grille and bumper. Owner planned on fixing it, but it never happened and the car baked in the arizona sun until 4 weeks ago. All original prairie bronze paint, so no hidden issues, what you see is what you get. Floors are very solid with the exception of the drivers floor pan from leaky weatherstripping and a very small spot in the passenger floorboard. Rear floors are perfect. The rust did not penetrate in the least bit the subrail on the drivers floor which is clearly visible from the pics. , so it would be an easy fix. Trunk floor has a few rust spots that the owner tried to fix with fiberglass, most of which I peeled off so you could see the damage. Also a very easy fix. Rockers are super solid as well as the quarters(which are laser straight) Front fenders have rust at the bottom where they all do from dirt getting caught up in there. Drivers door is solid, but the passenger door has a few rust holes in the bottom and the start of a pinhole in the forward bottom corner. All of the body panels are pretty straight, the hood has a bend in it from someone trying to close the hood w/ a stuck hinge.( the hood was up for 30 years to keep the packrats out, common desert problem) The roof was used as a shelf at some point and has a few creases in it. The inner fender wells in the engine compartment are perfect with the exception of a slight crease that runs up and down one inch behind the D/S core support. Also an easy pull, I took quite a few detailed shots of that area. All of the stainless around the windowas is very nice. All glass is good. Interior is original and shot from the AZ sun. Car is complete minus bumpers and a few grille pieces and front valance. This car would be a prime candidate for that Shelby clone. As a bodyman myself, I would rate the condition of this body as a prime resto candidate. Overall very very solid, nice straight body panels overall, and very little minor non structural areas of needed rust repair.
