1947 Indian Chief
1947 Indian Chief Roadmaster. Matching numbers engine and frame. 74 cu in Flathead that runs excellent. Less than 2500 miles on the engine rebuild. Correct Linkert carb, distributor, and an external oil cooler to promote greater engine life and reliability. Transmission is a correct 3 speed that shifts great. All original Sheetmetal finished in Turqoise, frame in colonial white. Charging system has been converted to 12 volt, but we still have the 6 volt generator if you would like put it back to original. (works much nicer as 12 volt) Frame seems very straight with only one weld repair evident on the seat post, but it is very minor. This bike sports extra chrome and polished aluminum throughout. Ignition cover is custom engraved. Buddy Seat finished in white to match the frame. All lights and blinkers work properly. Wide whitewall Avon Roadrunner tires with plenty of life left, front is near new. This is an excellent running reliable Indian, owned by a well known vintage Indian restorer/ slash mechanic. This bike is mechanically excellent, but cosmetically "rider quality." The chrome is showing wear and age, and there are imperfections in the paint under closer inspection. Overall a great investment and not so "cosmetically perfect" that you would be afraid to ride it. Grips have been replaced with new ones since the pics were taken.
