1948 Indian Chief
1948 Indian Chief completely restored by renowned marque expert Peter Bollenbach from late 1991-1992. Bike remains in excellent condition with under 2000 careful miles since completion. Matching numbers engine and frame and very correct throughout. All original parts were used in this restoration whenever possible. Cases are very clean with no evidence of repairs ever, but the primary cover had a 1" weld repair that was done very well and reflected in the receipts from Bollenbach engineering. The right side of the seat is missing a few tassles and one of the saddlebags has a torn leather strap at the back side as shown in the pictures. Otherwise the bike is in Show condition. All of the chrome and stainless with the exception of the front fender light that was rechromed, but still has some pit marks from before it was chromed...still better than having a reproduction light. Runs and rides flawlessly. This bike cost more than $22k to restore in 1992 and is backed up by all of the receipts in their original envelopes from Bollenbach engineering. If you are familiar with Peters work you know what this bike is.
