1953 Willys Wagon
1953 Willys 4×4 Wagon. Owned by an avid Jeep collector and Willys Club member for the last 15 years. The cosmetic restoration was completed before he purchased the car. The engine and transmission were rebuilt about 7 years ago and has had fewer than 2,000 miles since completed. Less than 37,500 miles on the truck since new, title marked “A” actual miles. Powered by its original F head 4 cylinder engine with side exhaust and overhead intake valves. Surprisingly it has a decent amount of power, feels very comparable to my 1969 FJ40 landcruiser with the 6 cylinder engine. This truck is optioned with a Warn overdrive unit which makes it far more enjoyable on highway drives. Very nice body with a driver quality paint job, not a high end show quality paint job as it was restored to enjoy. The floor boards in the footwell area appear to have been replaced and were done properly, “butt” welded in. Panels have great alignment in regards to door, hood, and tailgate gaps. Doors open and shut with ease. All weatherstripping and window seals were replaced when the car was painted and still in very nice condition. The glass is mostly original or older replacements, there are little scratches and defects here and there. All of the chrome had been refinished and is very nice. The interior was completely replaced using correct original type materials. The floor wood is original and was nicely refinished. Both rows of seats have a “fold forward” option for easy access. There are toolboxes under both front seats with assorted toolkits and tools. All of the gauges work perfectly. Wiper motor needs a rebuild, it wants to go but does not have enough power to be effective. it is Vacuum operated. Rarely do you see Willys 4×4 wagons this nice, it is a pleasure to drive and is very well sorted.
