1966 Corvette Convertible
1966 Corvette roadster that is an original 427 425HP car. AZ and New Mexico car so no rust or frame pitting. I have had it on the lift and there are no signs of major body damage or wheel lip modifications. All of the original bonding strips are intact. Body gaps are some of the nicest I have seen. Excellent body. Paint is 25 year old lacquer and was finished in Lynndale blue. Very nice job, but there are many chips from age and some solvent pop type bubbles on the D/S fender and cowl. Original color was 900, Tuxedo black. Car has 69,000 original miles. Original interior in nice driver quality shape. Gauges all work and are in excellent cosmetic condition(car was always garaged) Dash pad is near excellent and is original. 6500 rpm tach and 80 psi oil gauge. All of the chrome and stainless is pit free, but shows wear from age. I did not detail the undercarriage or engine compartment so you could see all of the big block only features in original condition. Steel caps on axles, 7/8 front sway bar, rear sway bar(not hooked up), 3/8 fuel line, TI ignition box mount holes under hood, no expansion tank canister holes. Car was built in e 06, rear date coded 1106. Stamped LR266 E1 on bottom. Casting # 3871375. 9 leaf spring. Gear ratio was probably changed, it now has somewhere close to a 3.23. Speedo reads way slow so I assume there were some pretty steep gears in this car originally. Trans is close ratio and is stamped P0T29B, 70S404060, casting # 392566. Bell housing Casting # 3899621. Shifter was replaced w/ a Hurst. Original engine is long gone. Last owner told me he brought it in for a rebuild 15 years ago, they installed the 454 as loaner so he could drive the car while his original engine was rebuilt. One month job turned into 6, then the shop went under, engine was sold by shop owner. Distributor is an aftermarket w/ tach drive. Air cleaner is original as well as the pulleys. I believe exhaust manifolds are later than 66 because of the smog plugs. All glass is very nice and original. All of the electrical system works except for the radio. Heater, fan control, blinkers, wipers, dash lights, all work. Knock offs have new BF Goodrich correct redline tires. Brakes were gone through a few years back. Car runs and drives excellent. Engine does not smoke and has no major leaks but is not fresh or high performance. It will however burn rubber all the way down the street. Fun car that is a nice driver for less than half the price of a freshly restored one. A car you can enjoy now and restore as needed, not to mention the exceptional collector value of a 425hp roadster that will only appreciate.
